Cultural trips always have many purposes...

The teacher's point of view :

Going abroad is educational for many reasons.

- Pupils speak a foreign language in their families.
- They can see in real the places mentioned in class.
- They understand that English is not only used by knights to kill wild monsters in video games or by R'n'B singers to treat ladies ungentlemanly, but it is also used by real people who need to find the
nearest loo !

The pupil's point of view :

- A British person talking to you in a museum is scary --> Coping Strategy : run to the nearest teacher and tell that a stranger talked to you but it's ok : you've survived.
- London parks are great because there are squirrels that climb everywhere and pelicans that bite people's leg.
- Babies are ill-treated because they are walked on leashes --> Moral Question --> Coping Strategy : run to the nearest teacher and tell how wrong people are to treat little ones like dogs. Teacher must explain.
- Fish & Chip is delicious.
- The Queen Mary's Dolls' House is wonderful and her guards are too serious (too bad you can't touch them.)
- Oxford Castle has the best souvenir shop : it sells pencil sharpeners which have the shape of tiny catapults - very useful in class ! (The shop must have sold all its stock.)
- Sweets + Soda + Boat = many to-and-fros to the toilets.
- British humour is very funny (
see below.)

Well, education is a matter of view points...at least, they'll have nice memories !
