Where is my spot ?
Yes, they're on leash. But why ?
Imagine a nice open and sunny field with a tiny white spot right in the middle of it... Then take Charlie (off-leash) who spotted the spot and ran, and ran and ran... What are masters supposed to do in that case ? WAIT... And WAIT... And WAIT.... The spot ended all right. Charlie ended on leash. And we ended with painful and stretched arms... PS : As many whippet owners must have guessed, the spot was a deliciously fluffy cat. Our family extended and moved at the same time. We were concerned that the pack could be upset but no ! They just love the new house which is much warmer. As for the baby, he's a synonym of long walks off-leash in the forest ! 
We thought that whippets - that are so delicate - were for delicate people. Well, we were SO wrong ! Whippets are for tough people, and ... I'm definitely not tough : In a very short period of time, our two siblings (Elias & Eliot) decided to refashion their slender and good-looking bodies into bloody ones...  First, Elias decided that one of his ears looked better in two parts than in one. The vet tried (with no anaesthesia) his best to sew it back but since he has a very bad eyesight, he tried 3 awful times before achieving something ! Too much gore for me ... Well, here is what this dog will wear next time !  Then, Eliot. What's the use of dewclaws ? Hum ? Eliot seems to find one and only use : dewclaws look good when they are torn off !! No vet this time, but a lot of cold sweat and a lot of socks around it to make it heal... God, why aren't they more CAREFUL ?!
Sleeping is a big issue for a whippet. Here is what can really depress a whippet :  A Very Bad Blanket... which turn out to be so messy (after a lot of scratching and whining) that it become totally unsleepable. This very sad truth stand also for carpets... Here is what can soothe a whippet : And a few hours later ... 
Instructions for those who would be interested in making a (very) cheap and comfy bed for demanding whippets :
- Find an old foam mattress (this one came from a charity shop) - Enjoy yourself with the saw that probably feels lonely abandonned somewhere in your garage, and cut the mattress into 5 parts (see pictures) - Cover everything with nice cloth (found also in a charity shop) - Call your whippets and enjoy the sight !! We've always been told that whippets are very supportive. When they are not stuck on mummy's belly during the nap, here is what they do.
